Brunch is available in the Student Center from 11 to 12:30 p.m. Graduates are guests of the University.
May 13, 2017
Baccalaureate will be held at 10:30 a.m. in Linn Memorial United Methodist Church.
Lunch is available in the Student Center from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Graduates are guests of the University.
Commencement begins at 2:00 p.m. in Puckett Field House.
Commencement will be live-streamed! A link will be available on the CMU homepage the day of Commencement or visit CMU's YouTube channel.
Seating for family and friends is ample but on a first come, first served basis.
In an effort to accommodate those who, due to health issues, are unable to use the regular, raised seating in Puckett Field House there will be also a small section of floor seats available. A ticket is required for this area. It is very important for everyone to understand that this section is only for those with disability issues; it will not accommodate additional members of the family.
Tickets for this seating area may be reserved by contacting Connie Hayes at firstname.lastname@example.org or 660-248-6225. Tickets may be picked up in the Office of Student Development beginning May 1.
The student center/field house parking lot will be reserved for vehicles with a handicap tag or plate on a first come, first served basis.
Seniors: Commencement Information
Students wishing to graduate must complete the CLAS Graduation Application. The application must be submitted by October 1 for December 2016 or March 1 for May 2017. All graduates need to submit the $75 graduation fee to the Business Office.
All degree requirements should be completed by December 16, 2016 for Fall 2016 graduates and May 12, 2017 for Spring 2017 graduates. If degree requirements are not completed by the dates above, students will then be eligible for the next available degree date.
Generally, students need to earn at least 124 credit hours with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 to graduate. Some programs have additional requirements, so students should check with their advisors and with division chairs.
Academic Regalia and Commencement
Arrangements for academic regalia are made through the Eagle Store.
Undergraduate graduation honors
Each year, some members of the graduating class are recognized for outstanding scholarship. Students whose cumulative grade point average (GPA) is 3.95 (or above) graduate summa cum laude. Students whose GPA is 3.8 (or above) graduate magna cum laude. Students whose GPA is 3.7 (or above) graduate cum laude. Honors students must have earned at least 60 semester hours from Central Methodist University. Graduation with Honors is calculated using all grades earned through the term prior to Commencement, including all transferred hours. These honors are recorded on the diplomas. Students graduating with honors are given appropriately colored cords to wear in the Commencement Ceremony. Students must earn a minimum of 60 semester hours from Central Methodist University to be eligible for honors.
