What can I expect to learn?
As a sociology student at CMU, you will gain knowledge in areas including research design and data analysis, race and ethnicity, gender and sexuality, social theory, and applied quantitative data analysis. You will focus on social problems, pop culture, social psychology, criminology, and much more.
Will I have opportunities for internships and hands-on learning experiences?
To gain even more real-world, hands-on learning experiences, you will have the opportunity to participate in internships for college credit. At CMU, we strongly encourage students to seek out internship opportunities, as they are often a way for you to build experience and social networks that can lead to career opportunities after graduation.

What are CMU students who graduated with this degree doing now?
Graduates of CMU’s sociology program have entered professions in areas including social services, government, management, and research. Many have gone on to get their masters in sociology, history and counseling, and several have received a Ph.D. Many graduates choose to work in non-profit organizations in helping professions such as the Rainbow House, the juvenile justice system, and the Mid-Missouri Mental Health Center.
