Fall 2017 Orientation Information and Schedule

There is a reason we plan Orientation activities the way we do, and you should plan to participate in all of it. Events are designed to help you meet not only fellow students, but many CMU faculty and staff. You’ll learn everything you need to know about the University campus.

Friday, August 18

9:00-11:00 am Resident Check-in and Validation, Residence Hall & Student Center
Staff from the Business Office, Financial Aid Office, Registrar and Parking, among others, will be on hand to handle last-minute details and questions.

9:00 – 1:00 pm Music @ ISACC for Validation

11:00 am - 12:30 pm Lunch

1:15 pm Co-Curricular Family Meetings, Thogmorton Center, Student Center, Recital Hall

2:00 pm President’s Welcome
The beginning of COLLEGE! Time to get that last $20. Attend as a family, but say your goodbyes ahead of time.
Raffle give a ways for parents

2:30 pm (Right after President’s Welcome) Parent Session, Linn Memorial
Play Heads and Tails with Parents

2:00 – 4:00 pm Play Fair and Get to Know you Session (students only), Puckett Field House then Jacobs Conference Center (4th floor Student Center)
It’s fun!! It’s the perfect way to begin new friendships.

4:00 pm Meet your CMU 101 Professor and Classmates, Various classrooms (orientation leaders will escort)

6:00 pm Freshman Dinner (being served by Resident Hall RAs), 4th floor Student Center
To begin the first year, students and First-Year Advisors will share a meal.

8:00 pm Comedian

10:00 pm Outdoor Movie & Pizza

Saturday, August 19

9:00 am -10:00am Continental Breakfast, Burford, Holt and Woodward

10:00 am – 12:30 pm CFS Service Project, Meet at Puckett Field House

12:30 – 1:00 pm Lunch w/ Orientation Group, ISACC Bergsten Dining Hall

2:00 - 6:30 pm Eagle Activities
Orientation Leaders will lead a series of events including: Eagle Challenge Center, Residence Information and Service Learning. Ask OL’s for guidance. Dip in Dots/DQ station at the ISACC.

6:30 pm Themed Dinner

8:00 pm Hypnotist

9:30 pm Outdoor Movie & Pizza

Sunday, August 20

10:30 am Casual/Contemporary Worship Service with Chorale, Linn Memorial

11:30 am - 1:00 pm Brunch, Bergsten Dining Hall

1:00 - 6:00 pm CMU Trivia

6:00 – 6:30 pm Student led outside service, C-Bench area

6:30 – 7:15 pm Dinner outside by the C-Bench, C-Bench area

8:00 pm Illusionist

9:30 pm Outdoor Movie & Pizza

Monday, August 21

8:00 am Classes Begin!

7:45 - 9:00 am Coffee & Donuts, “Around Campus”

11:00 am – 2:00 pm Solar Eclipse Lunch, President Drake’s House/Observatory.
1-2pm Classes are CANCELLED. All students MUST sign in. Lunch is free for all students. Music will be provided.

9:00 -11:00 pm Greek Welcome Back Bash, Davis Field

Tuesday, August 22

10:00 am Chapel, Linn Memorial Church

5:30 - 7:00 pm Central Methodist Student Fair & Dinner, Fayette City Square (Dining Hall closed)
Student organizations, Fayette merchants and Fresh Ideas. Student also enjoy novelty activities.

Thursday, August 24

All freshmen required to participate for CMU101 class.
