CMU Sunday: Volunteers from Central Methodist University visited United Methodist congregations across mid-Missouri, north central Missouri, and eastern Missouri on October 28, 2012 for our first CMU Sunday involving 26 volunteers. Faculty, staff and administration from the university attended 25 UMCs across the state. These volunteers brought greetings and words of thanks on behalf of CMU President Marianne Inman, invited congregations to visit CMU, provided information regarding CMU’s academic and extracurricular programs as well as responded to questions about the University, including addressing admission requirements for prospective students. The next CMU Sunday is scheduled for February 24, 2013. CMU welcomes additional requests from interested churches. United Methodist Day: Central Methodist University hosted United Methodist Day, recognizing members of area United Methodist churches with a special event on Saturday, October 27, 2012. UMC Day offered free admission to the Eagle football game against Evangel at 1 p.m. at Davis Field. During the game, Central Methodist identified all of the United Methodist churches with members in attendance. UMC guests are asked to register in advance to get their names on a pass list. The next UMC Day will be on Saturday, February 23, 2013 (Senior Day) when CMU’s women’s and men’s basketball teams will host Baker University at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. respectively. CMU Leadership Institute: The CMU Leadership Institute brings together both clergy and laity from United Methodist congregations for a day of learning and fellowship. At the event, guests will hear pastors, bishops, seminary professors and other professionals speak about topics of interest to church leaders. This year, May 14, 2013, will be the Sixth Annual CMU Leadership Institute with senior pastors Mike Schreiner of the Morning Star UMC, and Ron Watts of the La Croix UMC, two well known and respected UMC pastors of two of our largest and fastest growing UMC congregations in Missouri.
