Alliance and Core Support

These organizations bring together members of the LGBTQ community, as well as outside members, in hopes of: dismantling hurtful stereotypes, providing safe spaces of support, and encouraging overall community acceptance.

ALLiance

An organization in which aims to fuse together community members through respect, acceptance, and support of all individuals regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity. CMU ALLiance respects you as you are. Diversity of all people is encouraged and discussed. We work to educate about, support, and advocate for sexual and gender minorities at Central Methodist University. This is a safe place to discuss and ask questions about the LGBTQ community (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer).

Meetings typically consist of introductions, icebreakers, refreshments, games, question and answer sessions, and open discussion. This organization welcomes everyone at CMU to join in on this relaxed atmosphere, including all students, faculty, and staff.

Core Support

This organization is closely connected with ALLiance. It is for members of the LGBTQ community to come find support and encouragement during complicated, overwhelming, and confusing developments of sexual and gender exploration. College experiences are oftentimes filled with twists and turns that can become problematic without proper support systems; this organization provides all community members who share these experiences a safe space and judgment-free zone where different issues, problems, triumphs, and achievements are discussed and supported.

If you have any questions or comments, including fundraising ideas or ways of raising awareness of these social organizations, please don’t hesitate to let us know at core@centralmethodist.edu
