Jennifer Muņiz, D.M.A.

Jennifer MunizDr. Jennifer Muņiz, Assistant Professor of Music, Piano and Theory, joined the faculty of the Swinney Conservatory of Music at Central Methodist University in 2012. Muņiz has performed in Spain, Italy, Mexico and the United States. She has garnered numerous awards and honors since her concerto debut at age eleven, including several public radio broadcast performances, a four-year performance grant for chamber music from the Liberace Foundation, her New York solo debut at Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall, and performances at the United Nations and the Polish Embassy in Chicago. Muņiz has given solo and collaborative performances in Tuscany, Italy, culminating in a world premiere performance in the Duomo in Siena.

Muņiz completed her Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees from Manhattan School of Music. She has worked as a vocal coach for Manhattan School of Music and Barnard College, and maintained a private studio in New York City for seven years. Muņiz served as a piano instructor and accompanist at the University of Notre Dame for four years, including Opera Notre Dame. She taught piano at the Magistralia summer course in Spain, and was featured on a compact disc of contemporary Spanish songs released in 2007. As part of the Vinlanda Duo (two pianos), Muņiz performed in Oviedo, Spain in 2010 and recently at Goshen College, Indiana.

Muņiz currently performs as a solo and collaborative pianist, with an emphasis in contemporary music. She has presented performance lectures, including recent presentations at the College Music Society Regional Conference in Chicago, and the Goshen College Piano Institute. From 2006-2012, Muņiz served on the faculty of Indiana University South Bend.
