Inscape

Inscape, CMU's Magazine of the Arts, takes yearly submissions of poetry, prose (fiction and nonfiction), short plays, photographs, and artwork for each issue, published annually in the spring. In its nearly 50 years, Inscape has provided a creative venue for the poetry, prose, and artwork of students, faculty, and staff.

Founded in 1975, Inscape is the brainchild of CMU's Tau Tau Tau honorary fraternity, Mu Lambda chapter of Sigma Tau Delta (the international English Honor Society), and the mythic Scribblers and Scrawlers. Inscape is funded by CMU's Student Government Association.

Inscape Submission Deadlines and Guidelines

Submissions Begin: October 16, 2023
Submissions End: February 16, 2024

Inscape Awards:

Inscape Award for Poetry (1st, 2nd, 3rd)
Inscape Award for Fiction (1st, 2nd, 3rd)
Inscape Award for Creative Nonfiction (1st, 2nd, 3rd)
Inscape Award for Art (1st, 2nd, 3rd)
Inscape Award for Photography (1st, 2nd, 3rd)

All first place winner receive a check at the Inscape Release Party in late April.
Awards are voted on by currently active members of Sigma Tau Delta.

Submission Guidelines:

All poetry, plays, fiction, and nonfiction submissions must be formatted electronically as a Word Document. All photography and artwork must be submitted separately as high resolution, digital files.
