Political Science

A major in political science prepares students for entry into careers in business management, interest group advocacy, political consulting and public service at the national, state or local levels. The political science major is often used as the preliminary step toward professional training in the law or advanced study in political science or public administration.

Throughout the program students are encouraged to critically examine the nature of relationships between citizens and the state as well as between states. The political science program provides students with opportunities for independent studies, field experiences and internships.

The political science program at CMU offers students the opportunity to work closely with small groups of fellow students and interested, multidisciplinary faculty who all share a commitment to helping students prepare for success.

Political science majors have the option of graduating with a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree.
