GENERAL SUMMARY

A nine-month, full-time, tenure-track faculty position responsible for teaching English Literature beginning in August 2020.  As a generalist, the successful candidate will be a dedicated educator, teaching a 4/4 course load comprised largely of general education courses in composition and introductory literature.  In addition, the successful candidate will contribute to the existing rotation of English major/elective courses while also periodically developing special topics in literature courses.   

Areas of teaching specialty and interest may include, but are not limited to, one or more of the following:

                Multi-ethnic literatures

                World Literatures

                Gender and sexuality studies

                Environmental studies

                Contemporary/21st Century literatures

                Science Fiction & Fantasy

                Transmedia Studies

                Grammar and Linguistics

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

40% -Preparing for and teaching classes

30% -Providing grades and feedback

10%-Office Hours

10%-Curriculum Development

10%-Committee Assignments and University Service

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:      

A Ph.D. in English, Literature, Rhetoric & Composition, or related field is required. The successful candidate will be committed to working with students at a teaching-focused university and show evidence of innovative teaching and course development.  

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

Must be able to sit or stand in front of a classroom.   Must be able to articulate clearly and loudly for each class.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

Integrating technology into teaching practice.

Experience using Microsoft Office products.

Experience using a course management system.
