Central's Got Talent
The Division of Fine and Performing Arts at Central Methodist University is hosting two scholarship competitions and big money is on the line.
On Friday, January 31 we are hosting Central's Got Talent -a competition for two full-tuition scholarships (each valued at up to $100,000!) It all starts at 8 a.m. In addition to the two full-tuition scholarships, we will award major scholarships to the top three vocal, instrumental, and praise band categories.
On Thursday, February 13, we're back at it again with Little Theatre's Got Talent, a scholarship competition for those who are actors and set designers.
Contestants at each competition will have the opportunity to perform in their respective areas, cold reading (acting students only), sight-reading (singers and instrumentalists), and write an essay to express their passion for the field. Singers are asked to prepare two contrasting pieces, and instrumentalists should perform one contest-appropriate solo. Praise band musicians will perform a standard piece with CMU's Praise Band (you will be contacted with the title and arrangement after registering) while acting students should be prepared with two one-minute monologues, headshots, and a resume. Theater design students should bring a technical portfolio and will discuss their design process with the judges.
These events are free of charge, and a complimentary lunch will be provided.
Please fill out the info at the link below, and you'll be prompted to select/register for your event -- either Central's Got Talent or Little Theatre's Got Talent.
You may only compete in one area of the competition.
