Position Title: Assistant Football Coach (Defensive Focus)
Position Accountable To: Head Football Coach
GENERAL SUMMARY: Central Methodist University, a proud member of the NAIA and the Heart of America Athletic Conference, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Football Coach – Defensive Backs. This is a full-time position responsible for assisting in all aspects of the football program, with primary duties focusing on the development, instruction, and performance of the defensive backfield.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coach and develop the defensive backs unit in alignment with the program’s defensive philosophy.
- Assist in game planning, film breakdown, and opponent scouting.
- Contribute to the recruitment and retention of quality student-athletes who fit the mission and values of Central Methodist University.
- Support academic success and personal development of student-athletes.
- Assist with daily football operations, and practice organization.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head Football Coach or Athletic Administration.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Previous college football coaching experience.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous playing and/or coaching experience at an NAIA institution.
- Proven record of developing position groups and contributing to team success.
- Experience with HUDL or similar video and data systems.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
First Aid, CPR, AED; ability to lift 50lbs, stand on your feet for periods of three to five hours at a time for contests and games. Set up program-related equipment for practices and games.

OTHER INFORMATION AND ATTRIBUTES:
Due to recruiting and overnight travel, applicants must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record; must be able to obtain a State of Missouri vehicle operator's license within 30 days of employment and must qualify to operate a vehicle within the CMU guidelines. Ability to gain and maintain CMU driving approval is required.
Must be able to travel for extended periods of time for athletic contests, recruiting activities and athletic fundraising events.
