GENERAL SUMMARY: The Prison Education Program Advisor will be responsible for advising, tracking, and managing registration/study hall with the students in the Prison Education Program. This position will be required to visit assigned prisons on a scheduled basis.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
30% - Advising PEP students
15% - Student Academic Support
15% - Monitoring Student Progression
30% - Visiting Prisons for Registration/Study Hall
10% - Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Baccalaureate degree preferred
- Higher education experience (will consider experience in lieu of baccalaureate degree)
- Must meet the Department of Corrections requirements for entry into the prison facilities
- To enter any of the Missouri Department of Corrections (MODOC) facilities, you must comply with all MODOC security requirements, including but not limited to; full-body scanner, walk-through metal detector, handheld detectors, and X-ray baggage scanners.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Frequently stand and/or sit for several hours consecutively.
- May work in buildings without elevator access, requiring routine use of stairways to move between floors.
- May work in areas of a facility without air conditioning.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Office products experience (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, others as needed)
Web conferencing/Zoom experience
Strong communication skills
OTHER INFORMATION AND ATTRIBUTES:
Weekly travel to assigned prisons (2-3 days per week within a 100-mile radius)
- This will require a personal vehicle (mileage will be reimbursed monthly)
Remote position in the Jefferson City area
