When bad weather moves in, it may be necessary to cancel classes at certain CMU locations. The following list will be updated to reflect any cancellations or delays. If the website is unavailable, cancellations will be posted on CMU's Facebook page.

Cancellation announcements will be communicated through local television and/or radio. When CMU classes are held on a Community College campus, the cancellation decisions of that school will generally apply; however, there may be instances when day classes are held on the Community College campus but CMU night classes are cancelled; every effort will be made to keep information current on this page and with the local media listed.

Only the President, or his designee, has the authority to cancel classes. The University maintains its teaching schedules in accordance with established schedules and operational demands. Closing the Fayette campus will be avoided except under the most extreme circumstances.
Announcements regarding cancellation:
All announcements pertaining to cancellations at the Fayette campus will be released via the Marketing Communications Office.
If classes are cancelled or the college is closed, the decision will be posted on the CMU website, official social media, and communicated through the local television and radio stations listed below. An Eagle Alert will also be sent out. Only the following are official media outlets for CMU cancellations/closure information:

Severe weather information for Faculty and Staff
The University recognizes that severe weather may affect an employee's ability to travel to and from work. Employees should use discretion in attempting to travel when road conditions are poor. In the case of a campus closure, employees will be released from work, except for those designated as essential staff who maintain critical operations of the University.
